Northern Railway (NR), India

Northern Railway (NR) is one of the largest and oldest zones of Indian Railways. It was officially established by merging the Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Eastern Punjab Railways, along with parts of the East Indian Railway. NR spans across several northern states and comprises six divisions: Delhi, Ambala, Firozpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, and Jammu. Known as the "Jewel Set in the Crown of Indian Railways," NR operates extensive passenger and freight services and plays a vital role in national connectivity. It also manages heritage assets and tourist trains. NR is actively involved in modernization, electrification, and infrastructure development, including participation in public-private partnerships for enhanced service delivery.
